Emily Deschanel shares the key to her long-term marriage with husband David Hornsby.
The couple celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary earlier this year on September 25, 2010. While chatting with people at the 18th Annual GO Gala held at Maybourne Beverly Hills in Beverly Hills, California on Friday, October 17, Deschanel, 49, revealed the secret to her relationship with Hornsby, 49, in two words.
“Good communication,” Deschanel tells PEOPLE.

She continued, “That’s one of the things that helps. We’ve been married for 15 years, so that’s 100 years in Hollywood terms.”
Deschanel and Hornsby married in Los Angeles. The couple invited close family and friends, including Deschanel’s Bones co-star David Boreanaz.
Over the years, the couple welcomed two sons, 14-year-old Henry and 10-year-old Calvin.
Deschanel and Hornsby have largely kept their romance out of the spotlight. The actress’ sister Zooey, 45, and her fiancé Jonathan Scott, 47, may also be taking notes on their privacy, as they have kept the details of their relationship out of the spotlight.

Zooey and Jonathan, who got engaged two years ago, have remained tight-lipped about the details of their wedding. Even Deschanel has been kept in the dark.
“I don’t know when it’s going to happen,” Deschanel said of the long-awaited wedding in an interview with PEOPLE. “So for now, they’re just enjoying life. But they’re ready to throw a bachelorette party whenever they’re allowed.”
The actress has stopped pestering her sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law about wedding plans.
“I don’t ask, well, I don’t ask. I just leave it at that,” she says. “I asked first. I left them alone. They let me know when it happens. And the fact that they’re engaged is amazing in itself.”
