HBO and Sky’s upcoming legal thriller series War has added a number of stars to its cast, including Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammed and Honor Swinton-Byrne.
The first in Lupine creator George Kay’s new series, which stars Dominic West and Sienna Miller and has already been greenlit for a second season, the synopsis says that “two of London’s most prestigious rival firms, Cathcart and Taylor & Byrne, go head-to-head in the divorce case of the century.” “Both sides are confident of victory. But as cases swirl and loyalties crumble, reputations are at stake and everyone fights for victory. This is just the beginning. Season 1’s explosive case is the first in an anthology of headline-grabbing legal battles.”
In Season 1 of War, West plays tech mogul Morgan Henderson, while Miller plays Carla Duvall, the estranged wife of an international movie star. The newly revealed cast includes Imrie (“Better Things,” “Thursday Murder Club”) who plays the role of Sekisei. Mohamed (“Slow Horses,” “Ted Lasso”) as Michael Stefanou. Shaheen Jafargholi (The Lost Boys and Fairies, The Agency) as Syed Masoud. Akiya Henry (Protection, Malice) as Nora Okafo. Rose Williams (Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, Sanditon) as Flora Monroe. Camille Coduri (“Big Boys,” “Rain Dogs”) plays Mamsey Monroe. Alan Murphy (“Clara and the Sun”) as Gabriel. Swinton Byrne (The Souvenir, A Very Royal Scandal) as Vera Croft. Miles Jupp (The Full Monty, The Durrells) as David Sill. Cartanya Maynard (Heartbreak High, Deadlock) as Susie Levitnyk. Alexandra Mardel (“Smoggy Queens,” “Family Pile”) as Cleo. Mark Quartley (“Inside Man,” “Cursed”) plays Fred Templeman. Steve Furst (“I Fought yhe Law,” “A Gentleman in Tourism”) plays Bernard.
They join previously announced Phoebe Fox (The Great, The Tusk) as Serena Byrne, Nicholas Taylor’s life and business partner in Taylor & Byrne. James McArdle (“Playing Nice,” “Mare of Easttown”) as Nicholas Taylor. Nina Sosanya (“The Screw,” “Baby Reindeer”): “On Her Majesty” as Beatrice “Queen Bee” Ubosi, Taylor and Byrne’s fierce rival at Cathcart. Pip Torrence (“Succession,” “The Crown”) plays St. John Smallwood, another of Cathcart’s rivals. Archie Renaud (Alien: Romulus, Upgrade) plays Jonathan “Johnny” Warren, an ambitious lawyer.
“War” is written and produced by Kaye and directed by Ben Taylor (“Sex Education,” “Catastrophe”). It is co-produced by New Pictures (an All3Media company) and Observatory Pictures in association with HBO and Sky. Kaye will executive produce alongside Willow Grylls (Death, Missing) and Matt Sandford (Long Shadows) for New Pictures, and Taylor, Susan Breen (Woman in the Wall, Bad Sisters), Andrea Dewsbury (I Hate Susie, The Spanish Princess) and Megan Spanjian for Sky.
The series will be broadcast on Sky and streaming service NOW in the UK, Ireland and Italy, and on Sky and WOW in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It will air on HBO and HBO Max in the US and stream on HBO Max in Australia and Asia. International sales for the series will be handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
