Elizabeth Olsen is a rare presence on the Hollywood set.
The 36-year-old is very honest and private. Bold but quiet. Timeless and elegant, but not interested in expensive clothes or designer brands…
Unless the designer label is The Row.
“I don’t know how to be my performative self to the public, and I don’t want to,” she told InStyle Magazine on the cover of its Winter 2025 digital issue.
“I want people to watch the movie and see me as a character,” Olsen says.
Jason Sheeler, who wrote the profile, said, “She only wears vintage items such as Cartier watches and Levi’s, and coats and other things that her sisters gave her on The Row.”
Of course, if your sisters were the designer duo behind The Row, you’d probably make an exception to the mostly vintage-only rule.
Former Celine designer Phoebe Philo also seems worth the splurge. During the interview, Olsen revealed that she wore the same shoes to the interview that her character wore in the recently aired pilot. “They wouldn’t give me shoes, so I bought them. They’re so comfortable. On my feet,” she explained.
That’s not to say Olsen doesn’t indulge in consumerism, though. “I love buying food, and I love buying household items. Linens. I buy a lot of little tables…” the star agrees.
What about skin care? It’s also worth the cost. And her flawless skin shows it. “I spend money, but I don’t spend money on clothes,” Olsen explains. She clarifies, “It’s from skin products and lasers. I don’t want anything weird on my face, so I invest in elasticity.”
As an actor who started her career in indie films (after a cameo appearance in The Wild West), she’s now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has just completed a new romantic comedy.
Like her wide range of projects, Olsen’s sense of style evokes a sense of authenticity and timelessness. It’s a great combination, both on screen and in real life.
