Real-life couple Vino G. Bastian and Marcia Timothy star as on-screen rivals in Falcon Pictures’ Indonesian adaptation of the Malayalam thriller Drishyam, Aaya, Ak Mau Serita…, set to hit theaters on August 20th.
Bastien, who appeared in “Miracle in Cell 7,” plays a protective father caught up in a high-stakes battle to protect his family, while Timothy, internationally known for “Marlina the Four-Act Murderer,” plays the role of a police officer who relentlessly pursues him. The title of this movie translates into English as “Dad, I want to tell you…”
The project will be written and directed by Danial Rifki, whose credits include “Dendum Malam Keram” (“Revenge of the Gloomy Night”), an Indonesian remake of Oriol Paulo’s Spanish mystery “El Cuerpo.” With this film, Rifki will be directing an Indonesian version of a Malayalam film for the first time. The supporting cast includes Niken Anjani, Ziva Magnolya, Gunawan, and Preet Timothy.
“We are thrilled to bring this iconic story to life under the direction of Danial Rivki,” said Frederica, producer at Falcon Pictures. “Putting Vino G. Bastian against Marcia Timothy as protagonist and antagonist adds a layer of emotional and cinematic tension that is truly unprecedented in our industry.”
Drishyam, written and directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal, has expanded into international markets, having been adapted in four Indian languages, remade in Sinhala, and released in Chinese as Sheep Without a Shepherd. The Malayalam version of Drishyam 3 was released in theaters on May 21st.
Antony Perumbavoor, producer of the original film, said: “We are delighted to announce that ‘Drishyam’ has become the first Malayalam film to be remade into Indonesian. “We are screening the film in Indonesia. ‘Drishyam’ has already been remade in four Indian languages and two foreign languages. ‘Drishyam’ will cross borders with Mohanlal Sir starring and directed by my dear friend Jeethu Joseph.” Regardless of language or country, I share the joy and pride of making this film with you all at this moment. ”
