Spanish-language broadcaster Televisa Univision has hired Michael Rowe, a longtime media buying executive and most recently CEO of Dentsu Carat North America, as its new executive vice president of brand partnerships.
He will report directly to John Kozak, who was recently named the company’s head of advertising sales.
“One of our biggest opportunities is to increase advertiser participation across Televisa Univision, especially among brands that currently have zero share or significant room for growth,” Kozak said in a note Thursday. “As U.S. Hispanic consumers continue to drive growth for brands, helping more marketers tap into that opportunity remains a key priority for our Brand Partnerships team. Mike will build on these efforts by growing our advertiser base and enabling more brands to take full advantage of the power of our content, audiences and platform.”
Mr. Lo has worked for more than 25 years at a prominent media buying agency. Prior to becoming CEO of Carat North America, he led Dentsu’s investments in the US and spent time on Pfizer’s media team. He first joined Dentsu in 2000, overseeing national television purchases across key accounts. Law began working for Arnold, a prominent Boston-based agency.
The hires of Mr. Kozak and Mr. Lo signal a renewed interest by Televisa Univision management in relying on veterans with sales expertise. Kozack replaces Tim Natividad, who has experience at Roku and Amazon.
The company’s advertising revenue for the fourth quarter was $856 million, flat with last year’s results. In the U.S., advertising revenue fell 11% to $423 million.
