Lionsgate has released a new trailer for the latest installment in the Hunger Games series, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Based on the 2025 novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins, Sunrise on the Reaping is set 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games. The film follows the story of Haymitch Abernathy, Katniss Everdeen’s mentor and fellow victor of District 12, beginning on the morning of the reaping in the 50th Hunger Games. The 50th Congress commemorates Panem’s Second Quarter Quell, held every 25 years, so each district of this dystopian nation must pay twice as much tribute to the Capitol. Instead of the standard 24 tributes, 48 children must fight to the death in the Hunger Games.
Joseph Zada stars as Haymitch, with Jesse Plemons co-starring as young Plutarch Heavensbee. Ralph Fiennes plays the villainous President Snow. Glenn Close: Plays District 12 employee Drusilla Sickle. Kieran Culkin stars as eccentric broadcast host Caesar Flickerman. Elle Fanning plays young Effie Trinket. McKenna Grace as District 12 Tribute Macily Donner. Maya Hawke plays young Wiress. Whitney Peak: Haymitch’s lover, Lenore Dove Baird. and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as young Beattie Rattier.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is directed by Francis Lawrence and written by Billy Ray. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will serve as producers alongside Lawrence.
“The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” will be released in theaters on November 20th.
