A series adaptation of the fantasy novel “The Everlasting” is in development at Netflix. The streamer competitively won the rights to Alix E. Harrow’s bestseller.
Daphne Ferraro (previously lead writer on Amazon’s Maxton Hall) is on board to write the project and executive produce alongside author Harrow, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Katie Rozelle and Lea Cuello.
The Everlasting is a time-loop fantasy about Sir Una Everlasting, a female knight who founded a country through legend, and a not-so-heroic historian sent through time.
According to the logline, “Sir Una Everlasting was the Dominion’s greatest hero. An orphaned girl turned knight who died for her queen and country. Her legend lives on in songs and stories, children’s books and recruitment posters, but the real story of her life has been forgotten. Centuries later, Owen Mallory, a fallen military man and struggling scholar, meets Una Everlasting. Her story takes him into the war, the archives, and the past itself. “Una Everlasting” and Owen end up repeating the same story over and over again, no matter the cost, but if they want to rewrite the legend of Una, that is, if they want to tell a different story, they will have to rewrite history itself. ”
The television version of The Everlasting is presented by Universal Global Television. Ferraro, whose credits also include “Dark,” will next produce and showrun Amazon MGM Studios’ YA romance trilogy “Powerless.” Hallow is also the author of “January’s 10,000 Doors,” “Once Upon a Time and a Future Witch,” and “The Starling House.”
Harrow is repped by Howard Morheim Literary Agency, Circle Management + Productions and Kate McKean. Ferraro is represented by Circle Management + Production and Jackoway, Austen Tyreman.
If “Everlasting” is made into a series, it would join Netflix’s slate of book adaptations that include “The Queen’s Gambit,” “Bridgerton” and “Leave the World Behind.”
