Buckle up, because The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu starting July 29th. The sequel has so far grossed $677 million at the worldwide summer box office.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” was released in theaters on May 1st, 20 years after the original “The Devil Wears Prada” was released in theaters in 2006. For the first time, the audience was introduced to Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) as the assistant to Runway Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). The sequel will see Sacks return as the magazine’s features editor. That same former assistant, Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), is now a powerful executive at Dior, controlling the advertising dollars that Runway needs to maintain after the scandal.
In addition to Hathaway, Streep and Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracy Thoms and Tibor Feldman will reprise their roles in the sequel. New cast members include Kenneth Branagh and Patrick Bramall, who play Streep and Hathaway’s respective love interests, as well as Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, BJ Novak, Justin Theroux, and Pauline Chalamet.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 features a number of fashionable looks courtesy of costume designer Molly Rogers, who makes numerous cameos. Ashley Graham, Donatella Versace, Lady Gaga, Carla Swisher, Jenna Bush Hager, Paige DeSorbo, Hannah Berner, and Tina Brown all appear in the film.
David Frankel, who directed the 2006 film, and Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the original screenplay, are returning for the sequel, along with producer Wendy Finerman. Michael Biederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and McKenna served as executive producers.
