‘The Other Bennet Sister’ will be re-aired this year as a three-episode Christmas special on Britbox and the BBC.
Sarah Quintrell, who wrote nine of the ten episodes of the acclaimed Pride and Prejudice spinoff series, is writing the entire trilogy based on stories by author Janice Hadlow. Series director Asim Abbasi will also continue in the role.
The special will be filmed in Wales this summer and will star Ella Bruccolelli as Mary, the titular other Bennet sister, along with other familiar faces from the series. The drama, based on Hadlow’s novel of the same name, follows the often overlooked middle sister of the Bennet family as she navigates the social pressures of Regency England.
When it premiered earlier this year, “The Other Bennet Sister” broke records for BritBox in the U.S. and Canada, bringing in five times more new subscribers than any other series in its first five weeks, helping the streamer achieve its best quarter ever in terms of subscriber growth. In the UK, the show was the biggest launch for a new drama across all platforms since May 2025, reaching 7.3 million viewers in its first 28 days.
“The Other Bennet Sister” is produced by Bad Wolf for BritBox North America and the BBC. The special was commissioned by Lindsay Salt, BBC Drama Director for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, and John Farrar, Chief Direct-to-Consumer Content Officer for BBC Studios at BritBox North America. The executive producers are Bad Wolf’s Kate Crowther, Becca Kinder and Jane Tranter, the BBC’s Rebecca Ferguson, Britbox’s Robert Schildhouse, Farrar, Jess O’Riordan, Quintrell and Hadlow. The series is developed and directed by Bad Wolf Managing Director Dan McCulloch and Chief Creative Officer Ryan Rasmussen.

Although a premiere date has not yet been set, the Christmas episode of ‘The Other Bennet Sister’ will air exclusively on BritBox in the US and Canada, and on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK.
