The Creative Economy Authority of Thailand (CEA) has launched Bangkok International Content Market 2026 (BICM2026), one of the country’s first international marketplaces dedicated to movies, series and animation, which will be held from July 20 to 22 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.
The event is being developed in collaboration with the Ministry of International Trade Promotion under a broader umbrella initiative called Thailand Content Market 2026 (TCM2026). BICM2026 will bring together more than 80 investors and streaming platforms from around the world, with a particular focus on B2B deals, investment facilitation, and international co-productions.
“Bangkok International Content Market 2026 is an important step in systematically raising Thailand’s content market to an international level,” said Chakrit Pichankul, Executive Director of CEA. “Through this platform, CEA aims to transform Thai content and storytelling into sustainable economic value for the country.”
The three-day event will feature content pitching competitions across three courses: Asia Project Pitching, Thailand Project Pitching, and Thailand Story Pitching, with a total prize pool of at least $20,000. More than 55 films, series and production-ready projects from Thailand, Asia Pacific and the BICM partner network will participate. An exhibition floor with over 500 booths will serve studios, creators and creative businesses looking to connect with investors and co-production partners.
Organized by DITP, the broader TCM2026 umbrella spans 12 creative industry sectors including games, animation, art toys, books, e-learning and production services. Its wide platform targets more than 300 international buyers, more than 500 exhibitors, and a total of more than 10,000 participants.
CEA is building a new market based on Thailand’s content industry economy. Citing the country’s 2020 input-output table, Chakrit pointed out that the average return for every baht invested in film and broadcasting was 1.8 baht. “The content industry will be one of the key drivers of the country’s future economic growth,” he said.
The industry forum component will feature panel discussions and lectures by Thai and international experts on trends and new opportunities in the global content field. CEA has been mandated by the Prime Minister’s Office to oversee this initiative and previously developed the CEA Content Lab as part of its content industry drive.
