BAFTA and Emmy Award nominee Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok, Hedda), Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Owen Cooper (Adolescence, Wuthering Heights), and two-time Emmy Award winner Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear, Fantastic Four: First Steps) have been cast as the leads in the new psychological thriller. “Foxfinder”.
The film, directed by DGA and Emmy Award-nominated director Aoife McArdle (Disconnection, Kissing Candice), explores the “absurdity of state control and social conformity” and will be released in Cannes with international sales and distribution by Cornerstone and Logical Pictures Group. WME Independent, Cornerstone and Logical Pictures Group jointly represent U.S. rights.
“Foxfinder” is based on the award-winning play by Dawn King, and director McArdle and King co-wrote the screenplay. This play won the 2011 Papatango Newcomer Award. Production will begin in Germany, with filming scheduled to begin in Bavaria in summer 2026.
The film follows Jude and Sam, a grieving couple clinging to normalcy and survival, but their lives are forever changed when William, a ruthless and pious government “fox hunter,” arrives at their beleaguered farm with a mission to eradicate the foxes, their designated enemy. As delusions worsen and unreasonable regulations tighten, love is replaced by suspicion and truth itself begins to distort.
The film was developed by Rabbit Track Pictures and Iration Pictures in collaboration with Film4 and BFI, and is co-produced by Komplizen Film and Trimafilm. In addition to support from Film4 and BFI, funding includes Logical Pictures Group, German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), Bavarian Fund FFF Bayern and Medienbode Berlin Brandenburg. The film will be produced by BAFTA nominee Camilla Hoddle and BAFTA winner Emily Giuffroy of Iration Pictures, Kitty Kaletsky of Rabbit Track Pictures, two-time Academy Award winner Janine Jackowski, and David Almaty Lechner of Trimafilm. Executive producers are Farhana Bourla and Kate Kane for Film4, and Fred Fiore and Ryan Wickers for Logical.
