Sony Pictures International Productions’ Spanish operations are moving into short stories with Los Hiros del Miedo, an eight-part psychological suspense series set to launch on Spain’s Prime Video.
Roughly five minutes per episode, it is the division’s first short-form series and is based on the stories of Spanish author Salvador Gutierrez Solis, who made headlines in X and captivated millions of readers in Spain and Latin America.
The series is based on the mobile-first pilot “El Garaje,” which generated 28.4 million total views, more than 262,000 likes and nearly 300,000 interactions on TikTok, according to Sony Pictures.
Inspired by the everyday horror atmosphere of Gutierrez Solis’ suspense novels, “Los Hiros del Miedo” is designed to transform digitally native storytelling into premium audiovisual formats while maintaining the speed and immediacy of its social media origins.
The project will also expand the collaboration between Sony Pictures International Productions and the Madrid-based TAI School of Arts, integrating members of the international community of young creators into the technical and artistic production of the series.
The partnership positions “Los Gilos del Miedo” as both a commercial production and a talent development initiative, providing some TAI participants with their first professional industry experience.
“At Sony Pictures, we always strive to challenge convention, and we are proud to be an innovator in short-form entertainment and to be premiering Los Hiros del Miedo on Prime Video,” said Iván Lozada, managing director of Sony Pictures Entertainment in Spain.
Lozada said the project proves that “the tension of a movie is not tied to a traditional running time.”
“Bringing the massive viral reach of Salvador Gutierrez Solis’ X into a five-minute episode format allows us to bridge the gap between successful digitally native content and premium audiovisual production,” he said.
Gutierrez Solis, who publishes under the handle @gutisolis, said the adaptation was an unexpected leap forward in a story originally conceived for social networks.
“It is especially exciting and almost unimaginable to see these stories, originally created for social networks, being published on a platform with the global reach of Prime Video, alongside Spain’s Sony Pictures International Productions, one of the most respected production companies in the audiovisual industry,” he said.
The writer also emphasized the participation of TAI’s young filmmakers, some of whom are gaining professional experience for the first time in the series, and said that this project could be the beginning of a new generation of audiovisual creators.
“Los Hiros del Miedo” will be added to Prime Video’s streaming catalog in Spain, with a date yet to be announced.
