Pat Sajak meets daughter Maggie Sajak’s new boyfriend, Savannah Bananas star Jackson Olson.
In an interview with US Weekly magazine published Friday, the baseball team player described the “Wheel of Fortune” host as a “wonderful person.”
“Anyone is nervous about meeting the father, mother, or both of the person they’re dating,” Olson explained.
The athlete described himself as a “weird person” and “a very eccentric person” and said meeting 79-year-old Pat helped him become his true self.
“I’m not going to hold back on who I am as a person, and people seem to be enjoying the company,” he said.
“I’m happy to be my authentic self in every way right now,” Olson added.
Olson, 28, and McGee, 31, confirmed their relationship on social media last week with a PDA-filled photo from Disneyland.
The two captioned their joint Instagram post, “Applications have closed.”
In an interview with US Weekly magazine, Olson explained that he and Maggie live on opposite coasts. He lives in Savannah, Georgia and she lives in Los Angeles, California.
But despite the distance, Olson said the couple “has been able to stay together and have a great relationship.”
“All that matters is making plans and making sure you have time to see each other and have a really great experience, because the beginning of a relationship can never happen again,” he told the outlet.
“You only get one chance to start a relationship.”
Olson also admitted that he gets especially nervous when McGee is in the stands during Savannah Bananas games.
“Obviously, I want my parents to be proud… (and) now I want Maggie to be proud, and I want my teammates to be proud,” he said.
“I want everyone to know that I’m a good person and that I have good intentions in everything I do.”
Olson is Maggie’s first public boyfriend since her split from Scottish actor Ross McCall.
The former lovers, who have a 19-year age difference, first became romantically involved in April 2024 when they were spotted kissing and holding hands while taking a walk in Los Angeles. .
Maggie made a name for herself as a social media correspondent for Wheel of Fortune, a role she has held since fall 2021.
She previously appeared on the game show when her father had a health scare after undergoing surgery for an intestinal blockage.
