Josh Lucas will star opposite Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning in the legal drama series Discretion, Variety has confirmed.
The show was originally announced for a straight-to-series order on Paramount+ in October 2025. Based on the short story of the same name by Chandler Baker. Eight episodes have been ordered and production is expected to begin later this year.
The series’ logline reads, “Renee (Fanning), a summer associate at a prestigious Dallas law firm, discovers a web of non-disclosure agreements that cover up a dark truth. When she realizes that she signed the same agreement, her discoveries are revealed to the firm’s This puts them in the crosshairs of their most powerful female partner, Sharon (Kidman), upending their mentor-apprentice dynamic and raising questions about who can keep the secret and at what cost?
Lucas plays Greg, described as “a lawyer and the husband of Kidman’s powerful and formidable corporate law partner at the same firm who is entangled in the dark web of non-disclosure agreements.”
Lucas’ recent television credits include playing young John Dutton on Paramount Network’s hit series “Yellowstone” and starring in the Apple TV drama “Palm Royale.” Early in his career, he appeared on shows such as “The Firm” and “Mysteries of Laura.” He is primarily known for his roles in films such as “Ford v. Ferrari,” “The Lincoln Lawyer,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “American Psycho.”

Baker will serve as writer and executive producer, while Kidman and Fanning will star and serve as executive producers. Susannah Grant is also an executive producer. Kidman will executive produce with Per Saari through Blossom Films, while Fanning, her sister Dakota Fanning, and Brittany Kahan Ward will executive produce for Lewellen Pictures. Linden Entertainment’s Jordan Cerf and Cut To’s Joe Hipps will also serve as executive producers. Produced by A24 for Paramount.
