Madonna turned MetLife Stadium into an upbeat nightclub on Sunday, kicking off the 2026 FIFA World Cup halftime show with a performance of her 2000 hit single “Music,” which incorporates elements of “Disco Inferno” and “Danceteria.”
The Queen of Pop was escorted onto the field in a dune buggy driven by Brazilian soccer icons Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, flanked by roller skaters, and made her entrance wearing a special performance outfit.
The “Danceteria” songstress layered sporty Saint Laurent outfits, including a zip-up Lurex Diesel top, a custom varsity jacket embroidered with her name, a buckled corset, silky hot pants, fishnet stockings, lavender thigh-high stockings, and tall lace-up boots, all in the pink and purple “Confessions II” color palette.
Stylist Rita Melsen accessorized with lots of Swarovski jewelry, including a fuchsia Millenia necklace, an Una Angelique chain with a dazzling ‘M’ brand referee’s whistle suspended from it, and custom crystal hoop earrings.
“Millenia represents bold self-expression and is a perfect fit for Madonna, an influential artist who continues to shape culture for generations,” Swarovski Global Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert said in a press release. “It was a pleasure to work with her and her team on these custom Swarovski pieces and bring this vision to life together.”
Madonna’s custom fingerless goalie gloves made by Le Rheinstad were also encrusted in jewels.
Makeup artist Marcelo Gutierrez created the Grammy winner’s glam using Kiko Milano products, including Love Fusion 24H Moisture Radiant Foundation, High Pigment Eyeshadow in five different shades of mauve, lilac, white, and pink, Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush, Gossamer Emotion Creamy Lipstick, and 3D Hydra Lip Gloss.
What’s the final touch? Madonna’s eyes were encrusted with crystals in the inner and outer corners of her eyes, sparkling beneath shield-shaped Dior sunglasses.
Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but Swarovski stones seem to be a close second.
