Netflix has released the first teaser for the upcoming Little House on the Prairie series.
Laura Ingalls Wilder’s book series, based on her own childhood and published in 1932 and 1943, with the final book published after her death in 1971, follows the Ingalls family as they begin a new life in rural Minnesota. The new series will be released on Netflix on July 9th.
The teaser is narrated by Laura (Alice Halsey), who says, “Once upon a time, Mom and Dad, Mary and Laura, left the Big Woods of Wisconsin and moved to the prairie. There, a new life awaited them. Every day and every night was an adventure. And even though they were alone and so small compared to the sky and the stars, they were happy, because they were family and they were together.”
The official logline for Little House on the Prairie reads, “Part hopeful family drama, epic survival story, and part origin story of the American West, this fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic semi-autobiographical Little House offers a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of the people who shaped the frontier.”
Rebecca Sonnenshein will serve as showrunner and executive produce alongside Joy Gorman Wettels of Joy Coalition, Tripp Friendly of Friendly Family Productions, and Dana Fox. Directors include Sarah Adina Smith, Julie Ann Robinson, Kat Candler, Erica Tremblay, and Sydney Freeland. CBS Studios and Anonymous Content will produce the series.
