Kris Jenner’s mother Mary Jo Shannon has passed away, Jenner shared on Instagram. She was 91 years old.
“Today we said goodbye to our beautiful mama MJ,” Jenner wrote on Instagram on Thursday. “There are no words that can express what she meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye.”
Shannon, known as “MJ,” has appeared repeatedly in the world of Kardashian-Jenner reality TV, appearing on episodes of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
On “KUWTK,” Jenner checked in on her mother as she moved into a new condo, and on a 2025 episode of “The Kardashians,” Jenner started crying after an awkward phone call with Shannon. “I’m at a point in my life where I just can’t be alone anymore,” Jenner said of her mother, who was 90 at the time. “It makes me sad. I really hate that she’s in so much pain.”
“My mom was the center of our family,” Jenner wrote on Instagram. “She taught me everything that really matters: to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to be devoted to those you love, and to never take a moment together for granted. She taught us that family is everything.”
As the matriarch of one of the world’s most famous families, Shannon had six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner.
Jenner’s eulogy continued, “Mom, thank you for all the sacrifices you have made, for all the wisdom you have shared, and for all the moments in which you loved us completely. We will miss our daily conversations, your smile, your laughter… Our hearts are broken, but we take comfort in knowing that love like yours never truly leaves us. Your love lives on in our family, in our traditions, in every moment we are together, and in every life you touch.”
“When I look at my children and grandchildren, I see a part of you in all of us forever. There’s no part of me that hasn’t been shaped by you. And if I’ve done anything right in this world, it’s because I’ve spent my life trying to live a life that would make you proud. Every memory, every moment, every… Blessings, everything was because of you. I will forever be grateful to God every single day for making you my mommy. My heart is broken into a million pieces. “Thank you so much for giving me the best childhood and oh what a beautiful blessed life… I love you forever, mommy, thank you for giving us everything. ”
