A source told Us Weekly that Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s romance is flourishing in their private lives, with Perry “very much into it.” Just weeks after photos of them kissing on a yacht surfaced, the couple are secretly spending more time together. Both Perry and Trudeau’s inner circle have been supportive.
Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have not been seen in public since a photo of them kissing on a yacht surfaced earlier this month. But their new romance is very much blossoming behind closed doors, a source told Us Weekly.
“Katie loves it. She’s very happy,” the source said. “She’s trying to keep it low-key and they’ve been spending a lot of private time together. She has no intention of making this relationship public.”
The person added that Perry and Trudeau’s aides also have high expectations for them. “Their friends think they’re a good fit, but he actually hasn’t met many of her friends yet,” the source said.
The two celebrities were first spotted on a date in July of this year, when Perry was in Canada on her Lifetime tour. Perry had just broken up with her longtime fiancé, Orlando Bloom.
In mid-October, a source told People magazine that Trudeau did not give up on Perry, even though he was hesitant to date anyone when they first met.
“Ever since[the date in Montreal][he]has been pursuing her,” the source said. “He flew to California to meet her during a break from his tour. They connected easily. She finds him attractive. He’s very respectful.”
A source said of Perry’s view, “When she first started dating Justin, she had no intention of dating, but they kept in touch. They had common interests and a lot to talk about. But Katy was going through so much that she couldn’t even think about dating at the time.”
In early August, a source spoke to People magazine about the challenges the two faced despite their relationship. “While their own personal responsibilities may slow the progress of this relationship, there are ways to manage parenting responsibilities while still being present (since Trudeau and Perry both have ex-husbands and children). First, they each have ex-husbands, so the duties are split in half. And long-distance, while still difficult, is possible for these two.”
Canadian sources noted that Trudeau is “accustomed to living a secret life in his private life (given his political career) and has no intention of appearing in public at this stage. He knows he is being watched and is smart enough to keep a low profile for now,” so he is well equipped to deal with any setbacks.
