As the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks approaches, Jon Stewart and Pete Davidson partnered with Live Nation to host the event “NYC Still Standing After 25 Years: The 9/11 Comedy Benefit.” The one-night-only event will be held at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, September 10th, with proceeds going to the various 9/11 Presidencies.
Produced by Live Nation, the event will feature sets from Aziz Ansari, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, Ronnie Chen, Pete Davidson, Nikki Glazer, Josh Johnson, Jon Stewart and more, with additional guests to be announced at a later date.
“We look forward to once again celebrating the tenacity, resilience, and championship heart of this great city. And that doesn’t just mean our New York Knicks,” Stewart and Davidson said in a joint statement.
Ticket pre-sales for “NYC Still Rising After 25 Years: A 9/11 Comedy Benefit” will begin Wednesday, July 29th at 10 a.m. ET until Thursday, July 30 at 10 p.m. ET, and general sales will begin on Friday, July 31 at 10 a.m. ET on LiveNation.com.
Stewart and Davidson created the benefit and first announced it five years ago as the inaugural NYC Still Rising After 20 Years: A Comedy Celebration in 2021. Dixon Talent, WME Comedy and Live Nation Comedy collaborated to bring this project to life.
Davidson’s father was a firefighter who died in the September 11 attacks. In recent years, Stewart has been active in promoting support for September 11th emergency responders, many of whom fell ill after exposure to toxic dust after the collapse of the World Trade Center. Stewart is a leading advocate for U.S. veterans who were exposed to toxic burns in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Organizers emphasized that “the use of mobile phones, smart watches, and accessories is not permitted in the performance space.”
