Jimmy Kimmel to broadcast 2025 Christmas message on UK Channel 4

Jimmy Kimmel will deliver an alternative Christmas message in 2025 on British network Channel 4.

The famous messages, sometimes humorous and sometimes serious, are broadcast on Christmas Day and have become an annual tradition on Channel 4, serving as an alternative to the British monarch’s televised address to the nation. Since it was first given in 1993, Kimmel has given it to a variety of famous but unlikely figures, following in the footsteps of former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whistleblower Edward Snowden and French screen icon Brigitte Bardot.

In a “highly personal and characteristically hilarious speech,” Kimmel’s message will reflect on the past few months, including ABC’s controversial suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” following Charlie Kirk’s post-murder monologue, the network said.

The paper claimed that Kimmel’s Christmas message included the line, “From a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year.”

During his final monologue of 2025 on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the chat show host tearfully thanked his fans for getting him through a difficult year. In addition to ABC suspending his late-night talk show and Kimmel’s ongoing feud with President Donald Trump, Kimmel lost his childhood best friend and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” bandleader Cleto Escobedo III in November.

“It’s been a weird year. It’s been a tough year,” Kimmel said Dec. 19 at the beginning of the year’s final episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” “I’ve had some low years and some high years. For me, probably more than any other year in my life. I’m crying already. I’m sorry.”

Fighting back tears, Kimmel continued, “I just want to say thank you for your support and enthusiasm, not just for watching. You literally pulled us out of a hole this year, and I personally can’t thank you enough.”
