Jelly Roll’s weight loss journey has been full of ups and downs, and he’s been sharing them all with his fans.
The “Need a Favor” singer admitted in a recent YouTube vlog that she had suffered a major setback in recent months and was “afraid” to step on the scale, adding that she was “lost to some extent.”
“I’ve always loved it,” he said, reflecting on his health journey, from a few years ago when he weighed 540 pounds to appearing on the cover of Men’s Health earlier this year at 265 pounds. “We achieved our goal just before the holiday season.”
“So I thought, ‘Hey, you know what? I’ve been working hard for the last three years to lose this weight.'” “I’m going to enjoy my vacation,” he said.
The country star added, “I had a big Thanksgiving meal, I had a big birthday meal, I had a big Christmas meal. I got a little sick and broke my collarbone about a week before Christmas, a few days before Christmas.”
As a result, Jelly Roll said, “I had to stop running, I had to stop walking, I had to stop exercising for long periods of time.”
When it came time for the “Son of a Sinner” singer to weigh in, he admitted, “Guys, I was scared.”
“I feel like I’ve gained so much weight, I feel so bloated, I feel like the scale is going to disappoint me. I feel like I’m going to realize that I’ve gained 15 pounds in the last six months,” he said. “It’s scary, but at least we’re here together.”
He added: “The problem was avoiding weigh-ins.”
The scales then showed he had gained 12 pounds, weighing just over 276 pounds.
Elsewhere in the video, Jelly Roll said being on the cover of Men’s Health magazine was “not my goal” and that he was still 40 to 60 pounds away from his ideal “maintenance weight.”
Additionally, he has some new goals. He wants to train for this fall’s New York City Marathon and “be on the cover of crazy magazines like GQ, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Forbes, and Time with his shirt off.”
“I know it’s getting really ridiculous now, but I don’t get it,” he said. “I believe there’s a story about being able to grow from weighing 560 pounds to being photographed with your shirt off. That’s ridiculous.”
Jelly Roll has previously revealed that his sex life with wife Bunny Zoe was “terrible” before he started his weight loss journey, and told Men’s Health that his testosterone levels were that of a “preteen boy.”
“I was married to Smokeshow and I was still struggling,” he says, revealing that in addition to losing weight, he also turned to testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), which he will continue to do “probably for the rest of my life.”
“It’s totally different now. I’m chasing her around the house, you know what I’m saying?” he said. “I feel like a teenager again!”
