Jenny Molen has revealed that she felt abandoned early on in her marriage to Jason Biggs.
“When I started dating Jason, there was always a chip on my shoulder in the beginning. All of a sudden I felt like I was getting out of my first daughter and I was like, I’m married, and then all of a sudden I’m married to this guy who completely eclipsed me in so many ways, career-wise,” the actress said on the podcast “Liz Matters.”
The episode was released on Wednesday, but was recorded before the couple announced their split a few weeks ago after 18 years of marriage.
The writer confessed that people were so fascinated by her ex-lover that she became a “guest”.
“And it drove me crazy that I was always being pushed to the side,” Molen added.
The mother-of-two teased her resemblance to Prince Harry, who detailed being the second child of the royal family and its complicated dynamics in her memoir Spare.
“It’s about being a reserve, not a successor,” Molen continued. “I was like, ‘What’s going on?'” I was on reserve. I was a stand-up for “American Pie.” I empathize with Harry. It made me angry and I always had that feeling. ”
The “Amateur Night” star said she had no structure between growing up with “two narcissistic parents” and marrying Biggs, who was “much more famous” than she was.
“I just felt like no one was listening to what I was doing,” Moren admitted. “I’ve said whatever I wanted to say.”
Meanwhile, last week, the “Cattle Call” actress posted an essay for Substack detailing her struggle to feel valued and validated.
“All the highs in my life were like pennies disappearing into a bottomless well. I wait maybe a second or two for the sound of something landing, but before that happens I’ve moved on to the next task,” she wrote.
Earlier this month, a spokesperson for Mollen and Biggs confirmed their split, saying the pair were on good terms and were focused on raising their sons Laszlo, 8, and Sid, 12.
Rumors of their breakup have been circulating for nine months.
However, a source told People magazine that the exes spent the actor’s 48th birthday together in early May despite their romantic breakup.
“They’re very connected,” the source said. “I have no doubt that they will continue to have a good relationship.”
Moren and Biggs first met on the set of the movie My Best Friend’s Girl in 2007 and became engaged in January 2008.
The two eloped in April of the same year.
Just a few months later, in July, Moren and Biggs renewed their vows in Napa, California.
