Kelly Clarkson feared she had fallen prey to the lettuce-related parasite Cyclospora over the weekend.
The 44-year-old singer shared the “TMI” confession with concertgoers during a performance in Las Vegas on Saturday.
The “American Idol” alum hesitated before “saying it first.”
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me,” she complained. “I don’t know if I have a thing for people to eat lettuce and eat it. I don’t know what’s wrong with that.”
“But during the show last night, I was like, ‘Oh my god, yes,'” she continued. “When I got back to my room, I was never so happy to not have a man in my room, because he would never make sweet love again.”
As the audience laughed, the singer went on to reference the food poisoning scene in Bridesmaids and quipped that the 2011 film had “no idea what happened in[her]life.”
She added: “I was like, ‘Oh, Lord!'” You know the part of you that thinks it’s over, it better be over, girl! ”
Clarkson praised Sin City’s “warm bathrooms” and declared, “I’m going to be single until I die. I’ll be fine. I’ll find another weird mother.”
The Voice judge noted that it had “no context” to her next song, concluding, “I hope tonight doesn’t turn into that situation.”
TikTok users released the single “I’d Be Lyin'” on Friday, praising Clarkson for “doing stand-up” with his “onstage banter.”
One person commented that the “relatable” Grammy winner is “so genuine in the way he shares those stories and ‘no mean shit’.”
She didn’t hint at the bathroom nightmare in her Instagram caption about Friday’s show, writing, “I would have been lying if I said I didn’t have the best time last night! The crowd was so loud, thank you for singing along!”
According to the CDC, Cyclospora causes cyclosporiasis, an intestinal disease characterized by prolonged diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, bloating, weight loss, and low-grade fever.
The outbreak began in May and has sickened more than 1,600 people in 34 states, according to the CDC.
“The Challenge” star Leroy Garrett opened up about his experience with parasites last week, speaking about his “bathroom weekend” in an unfiltered Instagram video.
“I feel like I’ve had a Timberland put in a dryer in my stomach,” he explained. “Imagine putting your Timberlands in the dryer. Do you know what that sounds like? That’s the sound and feel of your stomach.”
