Howard Stern’s radio partner Robin Quivers has been officially announced as “cancer-free” 14 years after her diagnosis.
Stern called Quivers’ news a “miracle” when he announced him on Monday’s episode of “The Howards Stern Show.”
“Robin kicked Gunn’s butt. They said they couldn’t do that,” Stern said, admitting he still gets “chills” when he recalls the moment Quivers, 73, told him on the phone.
“I couldn’t believe it. And really, I said this to Robin personally, but I want to say it on the air. This is truly a miracle,” the disc jockey added.
Stern also praised Quivers, who first disclosed her endometrial cancer diagnosis in 2012, for her resilience in her battle with cancer, calling her a “fighter.”
“She investigated, she got the answers she needed, and here’s the good lesson: She took responsibility,” Stern continued. “I say this because this is the truth. I saw the whole story. She took charge of her health. She started doing all the right things. She never deviated and took it really seriously.”
Quivers said she feels like a “whole new person” since doctors told her she was cancer-free last week.
She also told Stern that life was not “enjoyable” during her cancer treatment, but that she “never gave up hope.”
Quivers, who has worked with Stern for more than 45 years, was diagnosed with stage 3C endometrial cancer in 2012 and underwent a hysterectomy.
In 2013, she announced that she was in remission after 15 months of chemotherapy and radiation therapy, but the cancer returned in 2016.
In a 2023 interview with People magazine, she revealed that she was receiving intermittent immunotherapy infusions to treat her cancer.
“I feel fine. It’s been 11 years since I’ve been dealing with this and I’m still here,” she said. “Both in and out of treatment, people are always trying to recover and get back on track.”
