Helen Mirren has broken her silence on reports of a rift with her Mobland co-star Tom Hardy and released a surprising message.
“I love you now and always,” she wrote on an Instagram photo of Hardy on Thursday.
A representative for Mr. Hardy did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The update comes after Hardy was reportedly fired from the Paramount+ series after sources claimed he was involved in an on-set feud with Mirren during filming.
“Tom’s character is charming. He’s a gentle person. But when the cameras stop it’s the complete opposite. Dame Helen is a joy, she’s a total professional and she’s worked with so many people over the years,” a source told the Daily Mail last week.
“She is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with Tom and his attitude,” they claimed. “He is sometimes late for filming, which is a nuisance to Dame Helen, who is very professional and disciplined. His tone, along with his tardiness, is something Dame Helen doesn’t like.”
The source added that Millen “expects better” and “holds people to high standards.” But Hardy “struts like a king” and is “very, very arrogant” on set.
Sources told Variety on Friday that Hardy was removed from production due to tensions with producer Jez Butterworth and 101 Studios.
According to Puck News, Hardy made several work mistakes while filming season 2, including regularly being late to set, changing lines, and frequently leaving notes in the script. He was also said to have been dissatisfied with the ensemble cast.
It was later reported that Hardy was not fired from the show because executive producer Guy Ritchie was “encouraging” David Glasser of 101 Studios, the company behind the show, to “make the show a success.”
“The door to Season 3 is not closed and things are moving forward creatively,” a production source told Variety on Thursday.
Hardy starred in the drama as a fixer for a London crime family.
Castmates include Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, Joan Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boone, Jasmine Jobson, Mandeep Dhillon, and Daniel Betts.
