All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is getting into the musical theater game.
Pro Wrestling Promotions has announced a partnership with the stage show “The Last Match: Pro Wrestling Rock Experience.” Under the partnership, The Last Match will take over the venue near Tottenham Court Road in London’s famous West End this autumn.
“On behalf of AEW, we are thrilled to be collaborating with The Last Match: Pro Wrestling Rock Experience this fall in London,” said Tony Khan, AEW CEO, GM and Creative Director. “This is a great opportunity to partner with All Elite Wrestling and established theatrical productions to showcase AEW stars in select performances and further expand our footprint in the London market.”
“The Last Match” features 1980s-inspired rock music and tells the story of a wrestler’s final pay-per-view event. Unlike other theater shows, attendees are encouraged to take photos and videos during the show. Each performance includes a pre-show interactive wrestling experience, allowing fans to explore multiple wrestling-themed installations and exhibits before the main event.
Tickets cost between £30 and £80 and offer a premium VIP experience. Details will be announced at a later date.
“‘AEW Presents The Last Match: A Pro Wrestling Rock Experience’ is a West End rock musical that happens to take place in the world of professional wrestling,” said Jeremiah James, director, lead producer and co-creator of the show. “We are deeply grateful to Tony Khan and everyone at All Elite Wrestling for believing in this project and accepting creative risks never before taken. Together, we are helping to innovate a new form of live entertainment.”
“One of the things that drew me to AEW Presents The Last Match: A Pro-Wrestling Rock Experience is that no two performances are exactly the same,” said Executive Producer Frank Licari. “While the story, music and characters remain the same, the live wrestling element creates the opportunity for surprises, special guests and moments that could only happen that night in that room.”
Along with James and Licari, noted wrestler Chavo Guerrero serves as executive producer and wrestling consultant. Book and lyrics by Jason Huza, book, music and additional lyrics by Sylvana Joyce and C. Robert Smith. Tatevik Hunanyan will serve as associate director and Bull James will serve as wrestling booker with associate wrestling booker Brandon Scott.
