Variety reports that Hulu has ordered a series version of Jack Jordan’s novel “Conviction” and has cast Elisabeth Moss in the lead role.

David Shore is adapting the book for the small screen and will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. In addition to starring, Moss is also an executive producer under his Love & Squalor Pictures banner. Warren Littlefield, who worked with Moss and Hulu on both The Handmaid’s Tale and the upcoming series Testament, will serve as executive producer for Littlefield.

“Conviction” was originally published in 2023, and the official logline reads: “Conviction, criminal defense attorney Neve Harper (Moss), finally takes on a career-changing case. Her husband is accused of setting his house on fire and killing his wife. But when a mysterious stranger begins to threaten Neve, she is forced to compromise all her legal, moral, and ethical obligations to get away with it, or risk her dark secrets. ”

Shore is executive producing alongside Erin Gunn under the Shore Z Productions banner. Jordan will also serve as executive producer, with Littlefield’s Ann Johnson and Lisa Harrison also serving as executive producers. Bert Salke will executive produce alongside Love & Squalor’s Lindsey McManus through Co-Lab21. TV number 20 is the studio. Shore and Littlefield currently have overall deals with 20th TV, where Jordan also has a multi-year development deal.

Moss starred in The Handmaid’s Tale, which aired on Hulu for six seasons. She has been nominated for an Emmy Award four times for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for the show, and won the award in 2017. It has also been nominated for the show’s Best Drama Series award four times, also winning in 2017. She is currently the executive producer of “Testaments,” which will be released on Hulu on April 8th.

Moss has received seven other Emmy nominations during his career, six for “Mad Men” and one for “Top of the Lake.” She will next be seen opposite Kerry Washington and Kate Mara in the Apple TV series “Imperfect Women.”

She is repped by WME, Ocean Avenue, Ribisi Entertainment Group and Hansen Jacobson.

Mr. Shore is perhaps best known for creating Fox’s hit medical drama “House,” which starred Hugh Laurie and ran for eight seasons. He then went on to create ABC’s hit drama The Good Doctor, which ended in 2024 after seven seasons. His other television scripts include “Sneaky Pete,” “The Accusation” and “Law & Order.”

He is represented by CAA, The Shuman Co., and attorney Bill Sobel.

In addition to “Conviction,” Jordan is currently developing a series version of his novel “Deception” at 20th TV. He is also working on an adaptation of the novel Redemption with Disney Entertainment’s International Originals EMEA team at 20th TV, The Littlefield Co, Co-Lab 21 and Riff Raff Entertainment.

Jordan is repped by Madeline Milburn Agency, WME and FKKS.
