‘Discomfort, Texas’ movie adds Carla Gallo and Lauren Lane to cast

Director William Mellon has cast the cast for his upcoming feature film Discomfort, Texas, which is loosely inspired by the death of his own twin sister.

The cast includes Jack Shaw, Mallory Higgins, Maya Boyce, Claire Young, and special appearances by Carla Gallo (Apple TV’s Platonic) and Lauren Lane (The Nanny) as Nancy.

Shaw will play Frank Hines, a “sensitive and emotionally stunted young man” dealing with the impending loss of his twin sister. Higgins will star as Jane Hynes, Frank’s “sharp, rebellious and emotionally self-sufficient” twin sister.

Young will play Suzanne, Frank’s recent ex-girlfriend and Jane’s former best friend, while Boyce will play the role of Ada, Jane’s closest friend. Gallo and Lane will play Maggie and Nancy, Frank and Jane’s mothers.

“Discomfort, Texas” centers on the aftermath of a car accident that leaves Frank’s twin sister Jane in a coma and Frank mentally unstable. According to the official logline, “Frank, who clearly has a strong connection to Jane, must go to the scene of the accident to sift through the emotional wreckage.”

The film, with a soundtrack by “Good Night, Texas” and “Deroid Elze,” is described as “a love letter to the beauty found in loss and the cinematic landscapes of the American Southwest.”

“When you’re born as twins, you grow up with an unspoken promise: you’re never truly alone,” Mellon said of the film. “I wrote ‘Uncomfortable, Texas’ for the same reason we once told that story: to understand our pain, our doubts, our dark places, and try to find the light in them.”

“But now I’m not just telling this story to help Nora and I fall asleep. ‘Uncomfortable, Texas’ is a reminder to those who have faced loss that when you truly love someone, that person is never truly gone.”

“Discomfort, Texas” is also produced by David Zalasin and Ellie Johnston.
