In a tearful resurfaced Twitch stream, she sang about her doomed relationship and wondered why she couldn’t move on.
Sitting in a darkened studio with her band and producer, the singer freestyled parts of the song with a microphone clutched to her lips. “My heart can’t stand it/My bones can’t stand it/I just can’t shake, no/My bedroom hurts and I’m lost without you/My lungs are breathing for you.”
In the song, which he performed during his October 27 stream, he also sang about bending the knee for a lover who is the perfect puzzle piece.
“If I’m where I’m supposed to be/But I keep asking you,” he continues, in part. “I get tired easily/I get angry very easily/I have that tendency/I want you near me.”
When putting this song together, he said, “All this hard work will never be in vain.”
“Do I exist to love you? / I want it to be over / Is it too late for you to trust me? / Does it just seem like a game and I’m crazy?” he asks before asking, “Why don’t you leave? / Why stay?”
“When will we change?/How can I continue to love you?”
But during a 30-minute singing session, he changed his tone, singing, “You make my dreams come true/Baby, baby, what would I do without you?/My heart would turn to stone/If everything went away, what would I do without you?”
The song resurfaced on TikTok and X over the weekend, sparking many fan theories.
Some wondered if he was singing about his past relationship with Selena Gomez, as he sang about his relationship since he was 18 years old.
“Is this about Selena Gomez?” one Twitch user asked in a live chat, while another said via X: “Justin Bieber, who has been married for 8 years and is a father, recorded a song with lyrics like ‘I’m stuck in a relationship that’s not you’…and apparently even whispered Selena’s name. He’s so obsessed.”
“Justin Bieber really sings a song about Selena Gomez in front of his wife. I wouldn’t wish such a humiliating ritual on anyone,” a third shared on social media.
A fourth commented: “Justin Bieber singing ‘I’m in a relationship that’s not you’ and whispering Selena’s name isn’t enough to make fans stop defending him at this point. No wonder Hailey has to defend her marriage with all her might. She has a child with a man who can’t get over her ex-husband.”
Gomez, 33, and Bieber, 31, dated on and off for eight years, from 2010 to early 2018.
He may be referring to Hailey in the song, following his latest split from singer Hailey, who is now married to Benny Blanco, as he continues to battle rumors of their separation.
The Lorde founder, 29, and Justin married in September 2018 and welcomed their first child, Jack, six years later.
Since their marriage, the two have been plagued by rumors of a rift.
Although they continually shut them out, Justin opened up about his marital troubles on his album “Swag.”
The pair have been on a united front ever since, but Justin was absent from Hayley’s pre-birthday celebrations due to Roadskin.
