Demi Moore detailed the “aggressive” behavior allegedly exhibited by her daughter Rumer Willis’ ex Derek Richard Thomas in custody documents.
In January, the actress wrote a statement to the court detailing her interactions with Willis and Thomas, who shares a 3-year-old daughter, Louetta, in which Thomas “appeared to want to direct and control Rumer’s environment to suit his needs.”
“One example of that was during Louetta’s birth. Ms. Rumer had a home birth,” Moore, 63, claimed in a document obtained by Us Weekly.
“I attended the birth along with Rumer’s siblings. While Rumer was delivering Louetta in the delivery bed, Derek entered the delivery bed in an aggressive and sudden manner without saying no or showering,” the mother of three claimed in the letter.
“Everyone was shocked. Rumer told his son to come out right away, which he did. He then spent the rest of the birth angry and pouting, making it all about himself.”
Moore claimed that Thomas “had no consideration for Rumer, the baby, the process or anyone else” in the matter, and that “Thomas essentially ruined what was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of her life.”
The “Substance” star said that when he returned home with Rumer’s sister Scout Willis the next day, Thomas came into his girlfriend’s room and “angrily complained that we were cleaning.”
“I heard him pressuring Ms. Rumer not to bring me and her sisters along for support. I heard him angrily complain to Ms. Rumer, ‘How dare you come here without his permission,'” Moore wrote in the letter, according to Us Weekly.
“That morning, less than 12 hours after Rumer gave birth, he was in the room with Rumer for at least 30 minutes. He would not leave Rumer alone and the situation only ended when Rumer left the room to get away from him,” she alleged in the document.
“After cleaning, I had my first moment holding my newborn granddaughter. As I was holding her, Derek suddenly pulled off his shirt and demanded that I give him the baby so he could have what he called ‘skin-to-skin contact.’
Moore claimed that Thomas was “aggressive” and “refused to dress Mr. Rumer even though Mr. Rumer was clearly cold and needed to be swaddled.”
“He showed absolutely no respect, care, consideration, compassion or support for anyone, especially Rumer and the baby,” the “GI Jane” actress claimed in a statement.
Moore claimed in the document that Thomas may have wanted to drive a wedge between Rumer, 37, and her famous family.
“Derek always sucks the joy out of every encounter with him,” she claimed. “He wants to pit Rumer against our family, causing Rumer unnecessary stress and fear to this day.”
“Although our family did our best to support Derek as a new father and support Rumer’s actions, he continued to try to completely eliminate her support system,” Moore added.
The “Striptease” star also claimed in the letter that Thomas brought his granddaughter home in “filthy” conditions after leaving her with him.
“Many times, he brings Louetta home dirty with unchanged diapers. He leaves her car seats dirty, but his general attitude is that it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t care about himself. He clearly expected Ruemer, me, or our staff to do everything for him,” she wrote in the document.
Moore said she and Bruce Willis’ eldest daughter, Rumer, “provide 100 percent financial and physical support” to Louetta.
“He wouldn’t acknowledge it, he wouldn’t support it, and in fact, he just put Louetta and Rumer in a more stressful situation. I kept watching him make choices that weren’t reflective of someone who really wanted to share the responsibility of parenthood,” the Oscar nominee claimed.
“He has refused any efforts and has shown no desire to explore avenues to assist Louetta,” Moore continued, adding, “He has refused to make the choice to share basic responsibility.”
Thomas’ attorney, Mike Kretzmer, said in a statement to Page Six that his client “will try this case in court, not in the press.”
The attorney also denied Rumer’s claim that Thomas engaged in “constant domestic violence.”
“Mr. Willis’ statements are inaccurate and false, and we intend to prove this in court. Mr. Thomas is a loving, capable, and perfectly worthy father to his child,” Kretzmer said.
“All he wants is to be the best father he can be. It is unfortunate, to say the least, that Mr. Willis chose to sabotage Mr. Thomas’ relationship with his daughter without justifying it.”
He added: “While Mr. Willis’ accusations are exaggerated and dramatic, they lack substantial and factual support to prove in court at the appropriate time.”
In recent court documents, Rumer claimed that the musician displayed a “persistent pattern” of “erratic emotional abuse” before their 2024 breakup, “often in front of his minor children or while locked in a car with them.”
She also claimed that Thomas’ “erratic and bizarre” behavior “escalated” after their daughter was born in April 2023.
