Davey Chase shared an unforgettable final photo on Instagram nearly 10 years before his tragic death.
A black and white snapshot shared on November 19, 2017, showed her enjoying the sunny day while standing next to a unicorn balloon.
The “Ring” actress wore a black sheer top and black distressed jeans while posing near a sidewalk sign. She accessorized with simple sunglasses and a long necklace.
“Unicorns exist 😻,” Chase captioned the post.
After news of the star’s death broke on Wednesday, fans flooded the comments section with tributes to the “Lilo & Stitch” voice actor.
One person wrote, “Rest in peace, thank you,” while another said, “Rest in peace in paradise 🤍🪽.”
A third person chimed in: “Please tell me it’s not like that 😭💔,” while a fourth said: “Rest in peace beautiful girl, you deserve better. We will never forget these characters in our lives.” Thank you for the nostalgia and your special words and voice. You left a mark on our hearts. May God bless you and soar with the angels 💔🕊️.”
Still, some simply shared images and GIFs of her most famous movie roles.
Chase rose to fame in 2002 by voicing the main character Lilo in Disney’s animated film Lilo & Stitch, and in 2001 by voicing Chihiro in the English version of Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning animated fantasy Spirited Away.
In 2002, she wowed audiences with her role as vengeful child spirit Samara Morgan in the iconic horror film The Ring. She also appeared in ‘Donnie Darko’ in 2001.
On Wednesday, news broke that the actress died Tuesday at the age of 35 after contracting a blood infection that causes meningitis and sepsis, according to her boyfriend Roy Hernandez.
TMZ reported that Chase was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital in early June due to malnutrition.
Hernandez set up a GoFundMe before his death, calling Chase “the light of (his) life” and noting that “behind the scenes, she has faced more than her share of hardship.”
“After a difficult childhood and painful conflicts with his family, Davey was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown Los Angeles,” he wrote through his campaign page.
“When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserves. Together we found moments of happiness and hope.”
Hernandez went on to write that Chase was diagnosed with several “serious” blood infections and meningitis.
“Her condition is serious and doctors said she may not have much time left,” he explained. “All she wanted was a place where we could live together and feel safe and be happy. Now more than ever, I want to give her a sense of home and peace in her final days.”
