Top Gear host and British TV icon Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he has been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of cancer.
“I got cancer,” Clarkson told co-stars Charlie Ireland and Caleb Cooper in the final two episodes of Season 5 of Clarkson’s Farm, now available on Prime Video. Cooper was shocked and asked Clarkson, “No, not yet. Where?” Mr. Clarkson replied, “It doesn’t matter where it is. I’ve known since May.”
Clarkson revealed that the reason she “disappeared last week” was because she went to the doctor and “had a biopsy.” Doctors told him the cancer was “aggressive,” but he said he was lucky to catch it “really early.”
He added, “You have to go in for surgery. It’s quick and it’s over quickly, but your body won’t be able to move for a while.”
The show then showed Clarkson sitting in a hospital bed, from which Clarkson said Season 5 of Clarkson’s Farm “started with me in a hospital bed, and Season 5 ends and I’m back in a hospital bed.” He explained that “part of the treatment” “didn’t work out” and said that if the next treatment is “successful, we’ll meet in season six, but if not, we won’t.”
Before the Season 5 finale of Clarkson’s Farm aired, Clarkson posted a video on Instagram warning fans that the episode would be “really, really difficult.”
For almost 20 years, Clarkson hosted Top Gear alongside Richard Hammond and James May. The show, which ran for 240 episodes on the BBC from 2002 to 2022, followed the three hosts as they traveled the world discussing exotic and sometimes bizarre cars. “Clarkson’s Farm,” which premiered on Prime Video in 2021, follows Clarkson as he attempts to run a rural farm with no experience.
