Ciara Miller isn’t buying West Wilson’s excuse for being emotionless during the ‘Summer House’ season 10 reunion.
“Just a medical note. Beta blockers do not take away emotions,” the registered nurse wrote via a thread Tuesday night after Part 3 of Reunion aired on Bravo.
“They work by blocking adrenaline from binding to beta receptors in the heart, blood vessels, and muscles (the receptors responsible for the physical symptoms of anxiety, such as increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, and tremors),” she continued.
“The emotional experience remains, but the physical stress response cannot be fully activated. It’s like ignoring the symptoms of ‘fight or flight’…enough about the beta blocker bulls—t.
Many fans took to the comments to praise Miller for continuing to hold him accountable after he secretly started an affair with his ex-best friend Amanda Batula.
“It’s actually funny that they thought it would work with a nurse present 🤣,” one person wrote.
“Amanda and West are both just unrepentant sociopaths,” another added.
In the final segment of the long-awaited reunion, host Andy Cohen accused Wilson of taking “heavy doses of beta blockers” and pointed out Wilson’s calm response to his emotional castmates.
“No offense, but are you on high doses of beta blockers or something? I just want to know what’s going on,” Cohen questioned.
The sports journalist explained that Wilson was “trying to stay as calm as possible.” Co-star Jesse Solomon also bluntly asked Wilson if he was taking beta blockers.
“I took a beta blocker,” Wilson finally admitted. “No offense, but I’m not sobbing at this moment. This is important to me,” he added. “But this is my friend.”
Beta-blockers are prescription drugs that slow the heart rate and lower blood pressure, according to the Mayo Clinic. They are often used to prevent or treat conditions such as arrhythmia, heart failure, chest pain, and migraines.
Wilson, 31, appears to have taken the drug knowing that he and Batula, 34, would be in the spotlight at the reunion, which is exactly what happened.
The couple attempted to legitimize their relationship as castmates poked holes in their relationship timeline and exposed many of their lies.
While the group still appeared to be divided as the reunion came to an end, Bravo teased a bonus episode, “Summer House: Aftermath,” showing the cast members having even tougher conversations in the weeks that followed.
“Summer House” is currently streaming on Peacock.
