“White Lotus” will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
The long-awaited fourth season of Mike White’s hit series will be set during the star-studded film festival, HBO confirmed Wednesday, announcing that filming has officially begun on the French Riviera.
The official synopsis reads: “Season 4 follows a new group of guests and employees at the White Lotus Hotel during a week at the Cannes Film Festival.” Hotels featured include Airer Château de la Mésardière as the White Lotus du Cap and Hôtel Martinez as the White Lotus Cannes. In addition to Cannes, the season will also be filmed in Saint-Tropez, Monaco and Paris, but the story remains set on the Cote d’Azur.
Sources said that while the production of “White Lotus” will be shown during the Cannes Film Festival, the cast will be on site for three to four days during the second week of the festival and will walk the red carpet at least once.
Back in October, Variety broke the news that Season 4 of The White Lotus would be filmed at the Château de Eyres Mesardier, a five-star hotel in Paris and the Cote d’Azur, France.
The full cast for Season 4 includes Helena Bonham Carter, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Greiner, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani, and Nadia Tereszkiewicz. Additional cast includes Chloe Bennet, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustafsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer, and Laura Smet.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 12th to May 23rd, and will feature new films from Asghar Farhadi, Pedro Almodóvar, Ira Sachs, Hirokazu Kore-eda, and tributes to Barbra Streisand and Peter Jackson. It is unclear whether “The White Lotus” will be filmed during the actual festival.
The White Lotus is produced, written, directed and executive produced by White, with additional executive producers including David Barnardo and Mark Kamin.
