Euphoria’s Barbie doll Ferreira has opened up about her decision not to return to the show for season 3 after announcing her exit in 2022. She said it was the result of a series of conversations that were “not dramatic.” Ferreira said he didn’t want to be in a background role and would rather star in a low-budget independent film “rather than be second-guessed.”
As Euphoria Season 3 begins, Barbie Ferreira is reflecting on her choice to leave the show. During an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, she revealed the real reason she didn’t want to reprise her role as Cat Hernandez, revealing that “it wasn’t dramatic.” The actress announced that she will be leaving the series in 2022 after the second season.
“It was actually the opposite of dramatic, it was more of a long process of, ‘I don’t know if this is for me,'” she explained. “And in talking to people, we were trying to figure out a way to make Kat like a fully fleshed out character. And it just wasn’t going anywhere. So I was just like, ‘I can’t find anything, I can’t land anything, so just let me go and do my thing.’ It’s going to take a long time, so I can’t just walk away from this.” ”
“You don’t need to be on the biggest TV show on the planet if you’re not acting, right? So I’d rather do an independent film where I’m asked to act and flex my muscles and do something creatively than sit around like a background character. I don’t know. And some people think, ‘That’s what I would do.’ I’m like, “That’s great.” If you want to be a background character for nine months, that’s totally fine and cool. But I also wanted to do other things. I would like to make something like an indie film. I don’t have time for that. ”
Ferreira’s latest film, The Face of Death, was released on April 10th.
“I’m making an indie film that’s literally made on a shoestring budget, but it feels like a cool, real story,” she said. “And I would rather do that than second-guess it.”
