The Academy has announced the winners of this year’s Nichol Fellowship in screenwriting. The 2025-2026 class of fellows consists of Lynn McKee, Katla Solnes, Leo Aguirre, Omar Al Dakhir, Elie El Choufany, Sarah Crowe, and David Lafaides. Crowe and Rafaides, along with Al Dakhir and El Choufany, were selected as the writing team. An international talent development program supporting non-professional screenwriters, fellows in the program receive support, resources and networking opportunities from the Academy. Country singer and bluegrass artist Ronnie Bowman died Saturday from serious injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 64 years old. Bowman was rushed to Vanderbilt Hospital, where he died Sunday, his family confirmed to USA Today. His wife, Garnet, said in a statement that she was “completely shocked and completely devastated” by his death. “Ronnie was loved by many in our music community and he loved them dearly…and we are grateful for all the love and outpouring that has already been showered on us,” the statement read.
