She pulled the beach towel out from under her.
Popular HGTV host Alison Victoria revealed the critical mistake that led to her being fired as co-host of “Battle on the Beach.”
In July 2025, Victoria falsely hinted on her podcast that a competition show about teams renovating seaside properties was being canceled amid a flurry of cancellations by broadcasters.
Victoria, 44, who hosted for four seasons alongside Tanya Nayak and Ty Pennington, was shocked on Tuesday when HGTV announced that the series would definitely return without Victoria and Nayak.
She told the Daily Mail that she believed the language she used on her podcast, Pap Smear, led to her sudden dismissal.
“I said ‘Battle on the Beach’ was canceled,” she said.
“Now, I shouldn’t have used that word. I should have said ‘not updated.'” Those were the words I should have used. ”
In a now infamous podcast episode, she spoke with her “America’s Ugliest House” co-star Retta and went on to slam the show’s production process.
“‘Battle on the Beach’ wasn’t rebroadcast, which is sad because it was like spring break for adults, but I think it was all edited,” she said.
Victoria, an Emmy-nominated producer, recalled being with Nayak the moment she found out she was fired.
“I looked at her and just said, ‘I expected that too,'” she told the outlet.
The interior designer, who hosted Season 1 of HGTV’s “Sin City Rehabilitation” and is awaiting news of its renewal, said she is uninterested in the “Battle on the Beach” firings.
“I didn’t feel angry, I didn’t feel sad. I just felt, ‘It’s okay,'” she said.
In place of Victoria and Nayak, along with Pennington, HGTV designers Sarah Baeumler and Mika Kleinschmidt will appear on the next season of “Battle on the Beach.”
Victoria, who looked back fondly on her experience at the Battle of the Beaches, insisted there was no bad blood amidst the upheaval.
“We started that show, no one is going to take that away from us, and we loved it and just had fun with it,” she said.
“We’ve made great television, and now it’s time to pass the torch and see what they have. So time will tell…I hope the ratings are great.”
