Talk about a great royal red carpet look.
French-Russian actress Anastasia Andrushkevich introduced Princess Diana at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this week, attending the premiere of “Fjord” in an ice blue dress almost identical to the one worn by the late royal at the same event in 1987.
As reported by Vogue, Andrashkevich’s dress, custom designed by Mehmet Ozden, featured a strikingly similar strapless silhouette, structured bodice, and flowing skirt.
Like Princess Diana, she accessorized with a matching scarf that draped down her back.
Even Andrushukevich’s short blonde bob seemed to reflect the ways of a 1980s princess.
Princess Diana’s original dress was designed by Catherine Walker, who remains a favorite of the Duchess, and was last sold at auction in 2011 for $137,500.
Originally inspired by Grace Kelly’s Edith Head dress in To Catch a Thief, this latest Cannes look is given even more historical context.
The 1955 Hitchcock film was actually filmed on the French Riviera, making the homage to Princess Diana’s look even more fitting.
The late royal also wore the gown on two other occasions. One time in 1987 for a sit-down portrait, and the other at the performance of “Miss Saigon” at the Theater Royal in September 1989.
