Although Lisa Rinna stars in her own reality series and has guest-starred on many others, she has not endorsed fellow reality star Spencer Pratt’s campaign to become the next mayor of Los Angeles.
Rinna spoke to Variety while stopping on the red carpet outside the American Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas to weigh in on the turmoil in the L.A. mayoral race. The host is Queen Latifah.
When asked who she would support in the contest, Rinna answered, “I don’t know yet.” She was quick to add that she is not a supporter of Pratt, star of MTV’s unscripted hit “The Hills.” Pratt has been gaining attention in the polls after attacking incumbent Karen Bass over the city’s response to the Palisades fire in January 2025. Pratt and his reality TV star wife Heidi Montag lost their home in the devastating wildfires.
“But I’m not a reality star,” Rinna said with conviction. “I love him (Pratt), but we’ve already done that and we’re not going to do it again,” she said, apparently referring to President Donald Trump, whose national profile skyrocketed when he topped NBC’s reality series “The Apprentice” in the mid-2000s.
When asked why Pratt is attracting more industry supporters, Rinna was candid.
“You know, because listen, I’m a real person. You don’t want me to be mayor, really. I mean, let’s be honest, I love him. I think he’s great. I just think we did it,” she said. Rinna easily confused the mayoral race with the equally strange California gubernatorial race. The state’s June 2 primary focused national attention on the first phase of the state’s 2026 election cycle.
“Let’s have whoever is already serving as mayor, even the mayor of San Jose, take office,” Rinna said, referring to gubernatorial candidate Matt Mahan. Wearing a stylish oversized brown suit and an extra-long polka dot tie with an image of President John F. Kennedy on it, Rinna graciously acknowledged that he was standing right.
“I like him,” Rinna said of Mahan. “I like him as a governor.”
Rinna first gained fame as the star of NBC’s timeless daytime drama Days of Our Lives. She and her husband, actor Harry Hamlin, starred in the TV Land series “Harry Loves Lisa.” She also appeared on Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” from 2014 to 2022. Rinna and Hamlin continue to be staples of talk shows, competitions, and reality series.
