Donald Trump has revealed why he won’t be attending his son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding to Bettina Anderson.
“As much as I wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and Bettina, the newest member of the Trump family, my soon-to-be wife, Bettina, the situation with the government, and my love for the United States of America do not allow me to do so,” the commander-in-chief wrote via Truth Social on Friday, the day after the two were legally married.
Page Six obtained a copy of the marriage certificate Thursday, which was filed in Palm Beach, Florida.
“I feel it is important for me to remain in the White House in Washington, D.C., at this critical time.”
“Congratulations, Don and Bettina! President Donald J. Trump,” he added.
The news comes a day after the president hinted that the event was “not a good time” for him.
“He wants me to go, but it’s just going to be a little private thing, and I’m going to manage,” Trump told reporters Thursday in the Oval Office.
“This is not a good time for me,” he added, “everything is called Iran and everything else.”
He went on to say that the conflict was “a conflict that I cannot win. If I join, I will be killed; if I do not participate, I will be killed.”
“I hope they have a wonderful marriage,” Trump concluded.
Also on Friday, news broke that the two were legally married ahead of a Saturday celebration on a private island in the Bahamas, which was the venue for the event, as Page Six reported on Monday.
Don Jr., 48, popped the question to Anderson, 39, at Camp David in December. Officials said at the time that they had hoped to get married at the White House, but plans changed amid the war with Iran.
“They know very well that a lavish wedding in the White House is not welcome when people are dying,” a source told Page Six.
An insider also revealed about Don to Page Six last month. Junior and his bride were in a hurry to get married and planned to officially tie the knot in the next few months.
Don Jr. has five children with ex-wife Vanessa Trump, whom he was married to from 2005 to 2018, making the couple a blended family.
