Simone Biles is getting candid about how much it costs to be on the red carpet.
In a TikTok video shared on Monday night, the gymnast revealed the shocking amount of money she spent to get glammed up with the help of a professional team.
“We need to talk… I just want to know if this is normal,” the gymnast, wearing a tight brown T-shirt and matching sweatpants, asked the camera.
“I know it costs money to go out these days, but does it cost this much?” she began.
Without mentioning a specific event, the gold medalist revealed that the “total cost” of her recent outing came to $23,000, including stylists, hair and makeup artists, adding, “I just want to know, is that normal?”
Biles deadpanned, “If that’s the new normal, you’ll all accept it. You’ll never see me at another event.”
“I’m going to sit here in a free place. I’ve been in kind of a vicious cycle ever since,” she continued.
Her last red carpet appearance was at the Laureas World Sports Awards in Madrid on April 20, where she wowed in a sculptural minidress by Vietnamese brand Con Tri, styled by Marc Desir.
“Basically Oscar…but let’s make it sporting 🤏🏾🤍,” she captioned the photo on Instagram. “My first @laureussport World Sports Award as an ambassador. I’m inspired by all the stories in the room ✨”
Biles posted the video to raise questions about whether Owens’ custom look and designer handbag were being taken advantage of financially in a way she shouldn’t have been while sitting in the VIP box cheering on her husband on game day.
“I have no malicious intent,” she assured viewers, “I just want to know if this is normal,” adding, “There’s no way I’m going to pay a fee like this every time… It’s not like that.”
Fans were stunned in the comments section, with fellow Olympian Mikaela Shiffrin agreeing: “Girl, I was thinking the same thing 🤯.”
