India’s leading multiplex chain PVR Inox will be holding a week-long retrospective dedicated to director David Dhawan starting May 8th, screening five of his most famous Hindi comedies across 25 cities and 40 venues. The festival comes as Dhawan is preparing for the release of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which is said to be his last film as a director.
Dhawan is considered one of India’s finest filmmakers in the comedy genre. The line-up of ‘Aankhen’, ‘Raja Babu’, ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya’, ‘Partner’ and ‘Main Tera Hero’ covers various chapters of a career spanning over four decades. Govinda was cast alongside Karisma Kapoor in ‘Raja Babu’. ‘Partner’ will see Govinda and Salman Khan co-star in a buddy comedy. ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya’ stars Khan alongside Sushmita Sen and Katrina Kaif. Varun Dhawan will be seen in ‘Main Tera Hero’. And “Anken” shows the conceit of one person playing two roles.

The event for the media and film industry will see David Dhawan in conversation with his son Varun Dhawan, one of Bollywood’s leading actors.
