Lights, camera…back alley.
Emily Blunt sneaked out through a labyrinth behind a hotel on her way to the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in New York on Monday night. The British actress slipped through a trash can and exited through a side door to avoid being photographed by paparazzi on the top secret red carpet.
Officials said Blunt, wearing a champagne-colored haute couture dress with a large tiered skirt and a necklace of more than 300 pearls, was seen weaving through the service corridors of the Lux Peninsula with a large entourage before arriving at Lincoln Center.
A spy said: “It was a funny sight to see Blunt, wearing a huge expensive couture Schiaparelli dress, walking past trash cans and staff folding laundry.”
“The cleaning staff were completely surprised,” the spy says.
Fashion insiders say the dress from Danielle Rosebery’s Spring/Summer 2026 Couture collection was so complicated that Blunt, 43, couldn’t sit down.
Blunt reportedly fled through the hotel’s discreet back exit, jumped into Splinter’s van, and likely stood during the 15-minute ride to the star-studded venue, where he was joined by co-stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci.
Blunt then changed into a Balmain look with a much smaller skirt for the afterparty, reprising her role as Emily Charlton in the film.
Anna Wintour, Lady Gaga, Coco Rocha, Christian Siriano, Marc Jacobs, Dylan Sprouse, Heidi Klum and new dad Justin Theroux also appeared on the red carpet.
