Taylor Swift’s wedding dress will reportedly be inspired by Elizabeth Taylor.
Swift is sure to be in the spotlight for her upcoming wedding to Travis Kelsey, with the Daily Mail reporting that the singer’s dress was inspired by the Hollywood icon’s first wedding dress in 1950, when she married Conrad Hilton, Paris Hilton’s great-uncle.
Swift has made no secret of her fandom of the “Cleopatra” actress. She wrote a song called “Elizabeth Taylor” for her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, and released the music video last month.
“When Taylor was making the music video for this song, he spent a lot of time looking at old photos of Elizabeth Taylor and became obsessed with the movie queen’s style,” a source told the Daily Mail.
“So when she started thinking about a wedding dress, she looked up Elizabeth’s old dresses online,” the source continued.
A source said Swift admired Taylor’s 1950 wedding dress because it was “old-fashioned and hugged her waistline,” and is also a fan of the lace detail.
Taylor famously married seven times before her death in March 2011 at the age of 79.
Hilton was her first husband, whom she married when she was 18 years old, but they separated after just eight months of marriage.
She was associated with British actor Michael Wilding (1952-1957), producer Mike Todd (1957-1958), and singer Eddie Fisher (1959-1964). She was married to actor Richard Burton (1975-1976), politician John Warner (1976-1982), and construction worker Larry Fortensky (1991-1996).
Swift’s song dedicated to Taylor references her highly publicized romance.
The lyrics include, “My white diamond and my lover will be forever/In the newspaper, on the screen, and in their hearts.”
“My eyes turn purple and I cry, Elizabeth Taylor/Tell me the truth, do you think it’s forever,” she sings.
Page Six exclusively reported last week that Swift and Kelsea shared their date with guests, revealing that the couple’s wedding will take place on July 3 in New York.
Preparations are already well underway.
Swift’s bridal party, which includes Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid, is reportedly working on a video of the pop superstar to play at Swift and Kelsey’s wedding, covering their relationship from the beginning.
“Much of the footage shows Taylor smiling and laughing because she loves how funny Travis is,” a source told The Sun.
Gomez is also reportedly planning a karaoke session for the couple’s star-studded guests to “show their love” and “celebrate Taylor’s superstar status.”
