ESPN announced it will bring “Women’s Sports Now” to cable stations on April 16, making the weekly series available on all ESPN digital platforms throughout the season.
“Women’s Sports Now” is moving from its successful Roku location. Each week, Emmy Award-winning sportswriter Susie Shuster, two-time WNBA champion and Atlanta Dream co-owner Renee Montgomery, veteran broadcaster Colleen Wolfe, and comedian and sports superfan Sarah Tiana will break down scores, discuss issues, and spotlight players, coaches, and other figures from the world of women’s sports, including basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball, and college track and field.
Women’s Sports Now is brought to you by Miller Lite again this year.
The show was developed in collaboration with APX Content Ventures, Rich Eisen Prods., Firefly Studios, and Montgomery’s Think Tank Prods. and Reese Witherspoon’s “Hello Sunshine.”
“We continue to expand our service to fans of women’s sports,” said Justin Craig, ESPN’s vice president of digital and audio production. “With Susie, Renee, Colleen and Sarah, Women’s Sports Now brings together four dynamic voices who will inform, entertain and connect our viewers in meaningful ways.”
The Women’s Sports Now quartet not only dig deep with their commentary and reporting, but they also have a lot of fun doing it.
“I came to WSN out of curiosity,” Shuster said. “Before WSN was on the air, and to be honest, before my daughter Taylor became a full-time hooper, I didn’t cover women’s sports. Now I see the world of sports through her eyes. ESPN and Miller Lite share a vision to cover women who surprise us every day with their incredible athleticism and ability to juggle the outrageous demands of their professional and personal lives.”
It’s no secret that women’s sports are rapidly gaining popularity. The recent women’s NCAA finals basketball game between UCLA and South Carolina drew 9.88 million viewers, a 16% increase from 2024. This is the third most-watched women’s final on record. ESPN will launch a primetime women’s sports window this summer based on internal data. The WNBA saw U.S. women’s hockey and U.S. figure skating gold medalist Alyssa Liu set broadcast records during the Milan Winter Olympics.
“Women’s sports viewership continues to grow dramatically, and ‘Women’s Sports Now’ was created to meet that moment,” said Sarah Rea of Firefly Studios, who also produces on behalf of Hello Sunshine. “These dynamic co-hosts bring the perfect combination of sports insight, personality and fun, creating a dynamic that engages casual viewers while delivering to passionate fans. We are proud to partner with ESPN and brands like Miller Lite that are invested in the future of women’s sports.”
Mara Schaefer, Miller Lite’s senior director of marketing, added, “Women’s sports have long produced legendary moments, and Miller Lite’s 50-year history is built around the same goals. We’re excited to continue our partnership with Women’s Sports Now and celebrate legendary moments for athletes and fans alike.”
Women’s Sports Now is executive produced by Sarah Rea (Firefly Studios), Susie Shuster (Rich Eisen Productions), Reese Witherspoon and Kathy Lambert Scaletter (Hello Sunshine), and is produced in association with Think Tank Productions.
