BBC Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills has taken a leave of absence from work following allegations about his “personal conduct”.
“While we do not comment on personal matters, we can confirm that Scott Mills has terminated his contract and left the BBC,” a BBC spokesperson said, according to BBC News.
The Mirror newspaper, which first broke the news, reported on Monday morning that Mr Mills, presenter of the popular BBC Radio 2 show The Breakfast Show, had been sacked following allegations of “personal conduct”. The Mirror said Mr Mills was taken off air last Tuesday while the BBC assessed the situation and was terminated over the weekend. On Wednesday, Gary Davis began “The Breakfast Show” by saying he would fill in for Mills.
Mills took over The Breakfast Show from Zoe Ball in January 2025, after starting in the afternoon slot on Radio 2 in 2022. She has also commented on Eurovision and won the BBC’s Celebrity Race Across the World in 2024 with her husband Sam Vaughan. He was the broadcaster’s 11th highest-paid presenter, earning between £355,000 and £359,999 ($470,100 to $476,700) a year, according to the BBC’s latest earnings report.
In an email sent to staff on Monday morning, BBC Music Director Lorna Clarke (via BBC News) said: “We know this news is sudden and unexpected and therefore will come as a shock. We have worked with Scott for many years across the board and felt it was important to share this news with you at the earliest opportunity. It will, of course, be a shock to our viewers and our loyal breakfast show listeners. I know many of you will have questions, but I hope you understand that I’m not going to say anything else right now. ”
Mills’ representatives did not immediately respond to Variety’s request for comment.
