Russell Brand’s trial on rape and sexual assault charges has been postponed until October. The comedian and actor was originally due to stand trial at Southwark Crown Court in London from June 16.
The trial, which consolidates all seven charges brought against the brand last year, is scheduled to begin on October 12 and is expected to last up to two months, according to Sky News.
In April 2025, Brando was charged with rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault against four women in incidents that allegedly occurred between 1999 and 2005. In December 2025, two more charges (one for rape and one for sexual assault) were filed against him in connection with two more women from incidents that allegedly occurred in 2009.
Brand has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denies any wrongdoing. He was granted bail pending criminal proceedings. After the first charges were filed in April 2025, Brando said in a social media post, “When I was young and single, before I had a wife and family, I was a fool, and before I lived in the light of the Lord, I was a fool, a drug addict, a sex addict, a moron. But I was never a rapist. I have never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you will see it when you look into my eyes.”
The accusations follow a 2023 investigation by The Sunday Times and Channel 4 in which five women came forward accusing the brand of “rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse” in the early 2010s.
