“Yellowstone” alumnus Mo Brings Plenty believes his late nephew, “1923” star Cole Brings Plenty, was murdered.
“Is it because they didn’t want to invest anything in it that his murder wasn’t investigated and dismissed as ‘not a criminal act’? It’s heartbreaking,” Mo told The Hollywood Reporter in his first interview about Cole’s death on Sunday.
Mr Mo continued: “Because we also pay taxes to the people, so it’s very sad that they don’t work for us, even though it’s no different than working for someone else.”
Cole went missing in 2024 after a suspected domestic violence incident. The news was announced on April 2 of the same year, but he had reportedly been missing since March 31, 2024.
In a police report on the incident obtained by the Post, Cole is listed on two charges: “Aggravated Domestic Violence, Choking in a Discourteous Manner, Family/Relationship” and “Aggravated Burglary, Felony, Theft, Domestic Violence, or Residence for the Purpose of a Sexually Motivated Crime.”
The 27-year-old man was found dead in a wooded area next to an empty car in Kansas on April 5, 2024.
Days later, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office announced via Facebook that there was “no indication of foul play.”
The official cause of death has not yet been announced.
Moe, who told THR that Cole was “like a son” to her, explained that her family has “so many unanswered questions” about his death.
“I saw his body and I saw there was evidence there that someone had captured him,” the “Marshalls” star shared. “So I can’t believe they say nothing happened. I still can’t believe it.”
“The authorities didn’t put much effort into it,” Mo continued investigating. “The truth is, they weren’t even seriously looking for him. They were chasing him. They weren’t looking for him. They weren’t looking for him.”
“They were chasing him until the day my best friend and I rented a helicopter and told the Lawrence Police Department we were going to search him from the air. And that day they went in full force.”
Moe said she is focused on getting justice in Cole’s death.
“We are in negotiations with several different people and we are not going to let it go,” he told the outlet. “For us, this was a great loss because this was someone who spoke our language, sang our songs and carried on our traditions.
“He was the future for us. We want to inspire more young people to understand who we are from a cultural perspective,” Mo added.
Page Six has reached out to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office for comment.
Cole appeared in episodes seven and eight of the first season of the Yellowstone spinoff 1923, starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford.
The show paid tribute to Cole in the Season 2 premiere, 10 months after his death.
Meanwhile, Mo will reprise his “Yellowstone” role in the new spin-off “The Marshalls,” which follows Casey Dutton (Luke Grimes) as he joins a specialized group of U.S. marshals tasked with protecting the state of Montana.
