Spoiler Alert: This article contains major spoilers for Season 2 of “Hijack,” now streaming on Apple TV.
Hijack Season 2 is on track for its season finale on March 4th, with viewers watching to see if Idris Elba’s Sam Nelson can save a train full of passengers before the bomb goes off, and uncover the true mastermind behind the deadly hijacking plot.
In a preview of the final episode shared with Variety, Nelson finally gets proof of life from his ex-wife Marcia (Kristin Adams), but Marcia is pursued through the woods by accomplices of the same shadowy figure who implicated Nelson in the train hijacking. But even Marcia’s plea to the real architects of the hijacking, “Please don’t let me be used against you,” doesn’t stop Nelson from aborting an extradition with terrorist John Bailey-Brown in case it puts the child’s mother in further danger.
As the eight-episode drama accelerates toward its grand conclusion, British embassy worker Olivia (Claire-Hope Ashiti) also pleads with Nelson over the communications line in the U-Bahn’s control room, saying, “You’re helping my son’s murderer escape,” to which Nelson replies, “That’s the deal I had to make.”
The season finale’s logline reads, “With extradition imminent, Sam is prepared to risk his life to save Marsha and expose the truth.” Watch the clip above.
In the second season of the hit drama, Elba returns as Nelson, the negotiator who saved a plane from a hijacking on the German U-Bahn subway in season 1, only this time he hijacks it to break Bailey-Brown out of prison.
“In the thrilling second season of Hijack, the Berlin subway and its commuters are taken hostage, and authorities scramble to save hundreds of lives,” the show’s synopsis reads. “Sam Nelson (Elba) is at the center of a crisis on board, and one wrong decision could spell disaster.”
The show is created by George Kaye (Lupin) and Jim Field-Smith (Criminal) and executive produced by Elba as well as Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Cousetta and Tom Nash of 60Forty Films, and Kaye and Field-Smith of Idiolamp Productions. Field Smith is also the lead director.
As well as Nelson and Adams, other cast members from season 1 will also be returning, including Max Beesley and Archie Panjabi. They will be joined by newcomers Asity (“Top Boy”), Christian Nethe (“The Baron”), Lisa Vicari (“Django”), Toby Jones (“Mr. Bates vs. the Post Office”), Karima McAdams (“Dune: Prophecy”) and Christian Paul (“Parliament”). Season 1 is available in its entirety on Apple TV.
