All3Media International has revealed that IDTV’s global format hit ‘The Traitors’ is now in production in 40 territories, making Indonesia the latest market to adapt to the psychological reality competition.
The Indonesian version will be produced by Falcon, a major local film production and distribution company founded by HB Naveen in 2010, and is scheduled for production in 2026. The series will be distributed as a 10-episode celebrity edition on Falcon’s streaming platform.
There is also a new European version, with versions for Slovakia and Estonia. PRVA TV in Serbia has commissioned Rainmaker to produce the local version, while Malta will receive the celebrity version produced by Great for Television Malta. The order follows recent orders in Turkey, Brazil, Mexico and South Korea, where Prime Video’s Indian version was quickly picked up for a second season after a strong debut.
The scope of this format extends far beyond production environments. The Traitors brand spans six continents, with a live experience currently based in London and a stage adaptation scheduled for 2027. The company is also in the process of rolling out consumer products, including tabletop games and mobile games in development.
Rating performance was equally impressive. The celebrity finale attracted 15 million viewers on the BBC, marking the year’s highest ratings in the UK. The series averaged 12.4 million viewers, which was 249% above the slot average, and the share was 54.7%, a 146% improvement over the slot standard. A second season has been commissioned. In the Czech Republic, streaming platform Prima+ recorded 200 million video views last year for its local version of “Zrádci,” almost double the number from the previous year and the platform’s highest viewership record. Episodes from the second season were also shown simultaneously in 66 movie theaters nationwide. In the U.S., Season 4 began on Peacock with the series’ strongest debut ever, racking up 3.2 billion minutes of viewing in less than a month after its premiere.
The series has also amassed a formidable award history, winning eight Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Reality Competition and Outstanding Reality or Competition Program Host for Alan Cumming’s US Season 3 in 2025, as well as two BAFTA Awards, two RTS Awards, five Asian Academy Creative Awards, one Rose d’Or and one Producers Guild Award.
“‘Traitor’ can only be described as a phenomenon,” said Louise Pedersen, CEO of All3Media International. “The show’s global reach and the passion of its fans around the world is a testament to the originality and adaptability of the format, as well as the skill of all of our local production partners. Reaching 40 territories in early 2026 is a significant milestone, and we’re delighted that Traitor, its blend of intrigue, deception and drama, will delight even more viewers around the world.”
Michel Nilsen, managing director of IDTV, added: “With 40 territories, we’re just getting started. This milestone highlights the global power of this format. ‘Betrayer’ proves that trust and betrayal resonates everywhere. We’re extremely proud of this accomplishment and excited to continue expanding the brand internationally.”
Produced and developed by IDTV in collaboration with RTL Creative Unit, “The Traitors” premiered in 2021 on RTL 4 in the Netherlands under the Dutch title “De Verraders”. The format brings contestants together in an elaborate setting where a hidden group of “traitors” secretly plan to eliminate their fellow players, the “loyal.” The “loyal” must expose and eliminate the traitor in order to claim the bounty.
